Placed an order online and Paid for $21 for 12 pieces of non-fresh sashimi and $13 for this saggy & no flavoured chicken Udon. Super disappointed and definitely it was the worst food ordering experience ever!!
MoreStopped in because we were in the mood for some Japanese. The service was nice but we found the food subpar and inauthentic, and the atmosphere deserted (not a soul but us at 5pm on a Saturday). The chicken in the chicken udon was deep-fried but alarmingly contained almost no chicken. The pan-fried udon noodle dish with beef tasted just like Edo (i.e. fast food). And the spicy tuna rolls were topped with a dollop of sriracha hot sauce, not something one usually sees on a Japanese fresh fish dish. As expected, with the sriracha removed, the fish tasted fishy. So not-fresh. The food needs work!
MoreExcellent food always, and wonderful people!
Food was fresh, but it was a little bland and the deep fried roll was barely fried that it tasted about doughy.
MoreGreat prices, excellent food.
The sushi was pretty great and the presentation was alright, certainly not exceptional as 2 of 30 rolls are expected to fall apart. The usual problem I have with ordering sushi is the portions are to small for the price you're paying. Here the portions were large and overall it was relatively inexpensive. That's something I really appreciated that I really haven't found before. It was a good experience, I would go again. It's a nice place and quaint, the staff was friendly and the music was good. I recommend it.
MoreGreat service and friendly owners! However the rolls and sushi were mediocre and not very authentic. A lot of rice and all our Maki rolls were ripped at the seaweed part and too much mayonnaise for the rolls. California rolls were not the authentic ones. Would order again just to support a local business but not my go to for authentic Japanese food.
MoreBeen coming here for over 10 years and it has stayed consistent and delicious. Feels like home. A cozy place you can eat in and also do any reading or studying. Owners are super nice and I’ve gotten to know them over the years. Get the crispy Kyoto and the green salad. Their chop chop cones are yummy, and their sashimi bibimbap is great too.
MoreFavourite japanese restaurant in Edmonton. Best teriyaki beef I've ever had.
Great food. Great price. Wife doesn't like miso. Asked her to try their miso and she was surprised on how good it tastes. Will definitely recommend to anyone.
MoreJust submitted a picture of the beef teriyaki I ordered. There was about 2 cm of oil that was drowning the meat and bean sprouts. I was not greeted when I came in and stood there and it was not busy. There was only 1 table of 2 people other then myself. Once I was greeted he was not warm and welcoming at all. He did not understand my questions as his English was not good at all. It was difficult to ask anything about the food. Then finally a waitress appeared who brought her son who then I had to listen to her son yelling at his mother the whole time I tried to eat my food. Very unprofessional place. I will never return. Food wasn't that good either. Hopefully the picture I posted will show you the food.
MoreFamily owned and operated from what I can tell. Walked in 10 minutes to close. Was treated very well, Jon the sushi chef took my order was very polite, the waitress who I assume was his wife was also awesome.
MoreFantastic service, great food. Went for late lunch with family and the service was outstanding and the sushi well made and generous. We spoke with the lady serving us and she was very personable and attentive. Little fact, the little fish made out of paper hanging from the lights were made from her son and she thought they were cute so she wanted to hang them up in the restaurant. They take the leftover avocado seeds and grow them in planters too if you happen to notice them on the sides and banisters. She let us take one home to try to grow ourselves too :)
MoreGreat with kids, so welcoming and inviting for my toddler that couldn't sit still very well.
MoreGood service nice atmosphere. Sushi is pretty good. The isobe roll was a great selection.
MoreLove this little place, great service, well priced and good food. Try the kyoto roll, you won't regret it!
MoreDo you want to support a family run restaurant or go to a corporate franchise? Do you want to be served by smiling owners who really appreciate you ? .... try this small cosy friendly restaurant on Argyll Rd and 99 st
MoreIt was great! Fresh! Great price! Nice staff! Very tasty!!!!!
This is my favorite sushi place in all of Edmonton. It's a small hidden gem with great food and a fantastic family who runs it that always treat me wonderfully each and every time I have came in over the years. 5/5 STARS
MoreCrispy Kyoto Rolls are life! 🙏
Ordered through skip the dishes and took way too long in my opinion for them to make our food and send the driver to us. Ordered at just after 6pm and didnt get our food until quarter to 8pm (was not the drivers fault). Overall the food was good though. Will probably order again.
MoreI have had a pretty good experience here. I came here with a group of 4 and the restaurant wasn't very busy, and the service was quick. This place isn't as westernized as most of the other Alberta sushi restaurants, and has a more authentic feel.
MoreLovely staff. Hadn't been there for sometime. Sashimi still good. Udon stock seems to be lacking somehow compared to the old days.
MoreBeen going there for almost 10 years. My family's go to when we feel like Japanese. Warm and very friendly!
MoreAlways enjoy the atmosphere and the sushi here. Their kid is hilarious, if he's there studying.
MoreFriendly staff and pretty good Japanese food. One of my personal favorites is the Crispy Kyoto roll. The selection of dishes is good. I will eat there again.
MoreFirst time I ordered from this place I thought it was decent. Portion size was small but was reflected in the price so I didn't mind. Today I ordered for the second time and was very disappointed. I wasn't even able to finish my lunch. The sashimi is not cut properly and not only that, the Tuna sashimi was brown in colour, sour to taste and had a green rainbowish shine on it which was off putting. Either way after reading other reviews on the cleanliness of the restaurant I don't think I will be ordering from here again. Side note: some of my coworkers also ordered the beef/chicken teriyaki bowls. They looked very blah and the sauce was soupy. Neither one of them liked their lunch.
MoreExcellent sushi as usual! Been coming here for years and doesn't disappoint.
Buttery salmon, badly cut. The staff were reasonably nice, and the service was quick.
MoreSuch friendly staff, quiet calming atmosphere and delicious good quality food.
Friendly customer service, made fresh sushi rolls in front of customers.
Kyoto is my "go to" sushi joint. Love it!!! Crispy Kyoto Roll is my absolute favorite. ❤
MoreOur favorite Sushi place, the couple is so nice. Great atmosphere, and they accommodate those who are gluten free so well! We will be returning there lots in the future.
MoreAwesome staff. If can be avoided do t use skip the dishes!
You made me a good sushi, I enjoyed it a lot! 🍣 😃
Delicious sushi and always great service
The service was good, but the quality of food served was not on par with the price paid. The fish didn't feel very fresh either.
MoreSushi rolls were not great, fried roll were doughy and a bit soggy. Spicy tuna rolls were covered in tobasco sauce or something close to it... Not a fan.
MoreThis place is a super underrated family owned and run restaurant. The sushi is the freshest in the city I have found so far and the service is friendly every time! Try their special house crispy Kyoto rolls.
MoreThe ladies are always nice and respectful. They will always double check and answer your questions! Their Miso Soup is to die for!
MoreFound a short black hair on my sushi 🍣 Yummy yikes The place has dim lighting and I'm glad I saw it before chowing it downI will never go back to this place That is so gross!!!What I should have done is take a picture of it and file a complaint with the city
MoreLove this place! It is NOT affiliated with the Kyoto sushi franchise, it is independently owned and operated. Try the crispy Kyoto rolls, they're the bomb!!
MoreGreat service and sushi!
A nice place and delicious food
Quite good, but also fast and reasonable prices.I enjoyed it.
